Amazon today launched a new app that delivers a more photo-centric view of its cloud storage option. Amazon Cloud Drive Photos offers 5GB of free storage for photos, allowing users to upload or view their photo albums on phones, tablets, and computers. The app enables one-tap uploading of entire albums from the phone or tablet to the cloud, allowing for easy backups of photos captured with a mobile device. It also makes it easy to share photos to Facebook, email, or any other app that can access the Android share feature.
Amazon Cloud Drive Photos is a free app not to be confused with the similarly named Amazon Cloud Drive. Though the app is an extension of the standard Cloud Drive service that stores any file, Cloud Drive Photos is a standalone app built specifically for the purpose of storing, view, and sharing photos. Users can upload only photos from the new app. Amazon supplies 5GB of free storage for Cloud Drive Photos, but prolific picture takers can purchase an additional 20GB for $10 per year. Cloud Drive Photos is available for the Amazon Kindle Fire, but it has also been uploaded to Google Play and is compatible with devices running Android 2.3.3 or later.
