T-Mobile has announced that it intends to pre-install the Lookout Automatic App Security app on most Android smartphones and tablets released in 2013. T-Mobile says that most Android devices will have Lookout software that scans installed applications for spyware and malware that can reveal private information. The app will also provide backups and restoration procedures for contacts; track and locate missing devices; and remotely lock or wipe a phone that is lost. Automatic App Security is based on Lookout's Mobile app available in Google Play, and will first be preloaded onto the LG Optimus L9 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
