ASUS has left no room for guessing or hunting for clues in its latest event invitation. While companies often coyly tease their product announcements in press invitations, the Taiwanese manufacturer has made it clear that its next gathering will be to unveil the ASUS Padfone 2. ASUS has begun telling Asian and Italian outlets to save the date on October 16, which is the date that it will announce the Padfone 2 in Milan and Taipei.
Breaking from tradition, ASUS even showed a portion of the phone on the save the date announcement. That's to be expected considering that the ASUS Padfone 2 will not be a conventional device. The original Padfone is a unique phone that is capable of docking into a tablet or laptop shell for additional computing options. ASUS reached success in the tablet market with the Transformer series and keyboard dock accessories, and it has tried to apply a similar strategy to phones. Motorola attempted something similar with its Atrix and subsequent Lapdock phones, but the company has abandoned the function in later devices. The Padfone 2 will be in elite company when it's announced next month.source: Notebook Italia
