Though Sony Mobile spent most of the day talking up the merits of its more powerful Xperia phones and brand new tablet, the Japanese manufacturer also took the wraps off another phone worth mentioning.
The Xperia J is the smallest of the trio of phones that Sony announced today. The phone features a scratch-resistant 4-inch display with a FWVGA (854x480) resolution. It has a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor; a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 30fps video recording; a VGA front-facing camera; and 512 MB of RAM. The phone also supports up to 7 hours of talk time and is only 9.2mm(0.36in) thin.
Noticeably less-powerful than the Xperia V and Xperia T, the Xperia J is designed to be a midrange smartphone running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony has not yet revealed any details on pricing or which markets it will sell the device. The company so far has only said that it will sell the Xperia J - available in black, white, pink, and gold - in Q4 2012.
