A report from iMore claims that Apple plans to announce its next-generation iPhone and a new, smaller version of the iPad as soon as September 12 of this year, with an expected retail launch of the devices slated for September 21.
iMore's information comes from sources that it says have been reliable in the past. In addition to the next iPhone and a new variant of the iPad, an updated iPod touch is also expected to be announced on the same date. Apple is also said to be planning to reveal the final version of its iOS 6 operating system during the event.
Rumors have long pegged the next iPhone to have a larger screen and support for both 4G LTE service and Near Field Communications (NFC). It is also expected to feature a new, smaller dock connector that features 19 pins instead of 30 like the current connector.
The smaller iPad is expected to have a display between 7 and 8 inches in size (most rumors put it at 7.85 inches), but not much else is known about the rumored device.
