Pantech has unveiled the new Vega S5 smartphone for its home market of South Korea. The S5 features a large, 5-inch HD display and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Not content to let LG and Samsung have all of the fun with oversized smartphones in Korea, Pantech has outfitted the S5 with a 720p (1280 x 720 pixel) HD 5-inch HD IPS display. Pantech says that the bezel of the S5 is the thinnest on any smartphone with a 4 or 5-inch screen, which minimizes the phone's footprint.
Under the hood, the Vega S5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor with support for 4G LTE networks. It is fueled by a 2100mAh battery with an alleged 11 hours of talk time and also sports a 13 megapixel camera.
The Vega S5 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Pantech's custom user interface. It also sports Pantech's own voice-controlled personal assistant software called Smart Voice.
Pantech plans to release the Vega S5 in South Korea this month, but there is no word as to whether or not it plans to bring the high-end smartphone to other parts of the globe.source: Pantech, via: The Verge
