The Sony Xperia ion is the company's first smartphone to come to the U.S. since it dropped the Ericsson name late last year. It is also Sony's first 4G LTE smartphone. Featuring a 4.6-inch HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 12 megapixel camera, the ion has a lot going for it on its spec sheet. Unfortunately, in practice, the display is not all that impressive, the phone's performance is choppy, and it is held back by the outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread software. One bright spot would be the camera which takes pretty good stills, but disappoints on the video front. The Xperia ion will be available from AT&T on June 24 for $99.99.
