SanDisk has announced a new line of microSD cards for smartphones and tablets that it claims are the fastest microSD cards on the market. The new Extreme Pro microSD UHS-I card can read data at rates up to 95MB/sec and write data as fast as 90MB/sec.
Those kinds of speeds come from the card's UHS Speed Class 1 rating. Though in order to reach its top speed, the card will have to be used with a UHS-I enabled device. Standard microSDHC-compatible devices can still use the Extreme Pro card to store data, they just won't have access to the card's high-speed capabilities.
SanDisk plans to offer the new card in 8GB and 16GB capacities for $59.99 and $99.99, respectively. The cards are available for purchase from sandisk.com and at major retailers now.
