Sprint has provided an update on the availability of the HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone that was being held up by U.S. Customs earlier this month. While HTC announced last night that the EVO 4G LTE and One X have passed through customs and are clear to enter the country, Sprint is still waiting for stock to arrive to fill out its inventory.
Sprint was able to fulfill a limited number of pre-orders for the device back on May 24, but it hasn't been able to stock its stores with the EVO 4G LTE or offer the phone in its online store yet. The carrier says that this should be resolved soon and that it will offer an update as to exactly when customers will be able to purchase the EVO 4G LTE in stores.
Sprint's full statement is as follows:
While Sprint customers who pre-ordered their HTC EVO 4G LTE received their device last week, Sprint continues to wait for our full inventory from HTC. We recently learned that HTC devices have been released by U.S. Customs. We expect shipments of HTC EVO 4G LTE to enter the U.S. in the next few days. An exact availability date for HTC EVO 4G LTE will be communicated as soon as possible.
