HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE

Earlier this evening at a Verizon Wireless event taking place on the eve of the start of the 2012 CTIA Wireless show, I got the chance to test drive the new HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE.

Like prior members of the Incredible family, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE features a sculpted, stepped rear cover that gives the phone a very distinctive look. It might not suit everyone's tastes, but there is no denying that its unusual.

Personally, I think that the DROID Incredible 4G LTE looks like a shrunken down version of the HTC Rezound that was released last year, and it feels just like that in the hand. Though the Incredible 4G LTE is 11.7mm thick, the tapered sides and grippy rear cover make it pleasant to hold. Unlike many modern Android smartphones from HTC, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE's rear cover is removable, and users can swap out the 1,700mAh battery or insert a microSD card into the phone to expand upon the included 8GB storage capacity.

In terms of specs, the Dinc 4G LTE features a 4-inch, qHD resolution Super LCD touchscreen display, a very capable 8 megapixel camera with a speedy f/2.2, 28mm lens, and a blazingly fast dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor running at 1.2GHz. Surprisingly, the 1.2GHz version of the S4 in the Incredible 4G LTE seemed to perform nearly as well as the faster 1.5GHz version found in the HTC One S and One XL. The phone was extremely responsive in my brief hands-on, and the interface zipped around without any issue.

Like other recent high-end HTC smartphones, the Incredible 4G LTE runs the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and makes use of HTC's trimmed down Sense 4 user interface.

Verizon Wireless has yet to tip its hat as to what the price for the latest Incredible will be, but it did say that we can expect it to go on sale "in the coming weeks."
