The Samsung Galaxy S III is the latest top-of-the-range smartphone from Samsung. It features a huge 4.8" HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, and an 8 megapixel camera with burst shot capabilities.
The Galaxy S III runs the latest version of Android (4.0 / Ice Cream Sandwich) and has Samsung's TouchWiz UI pasted on top to brighten things up a little. The phone also boasts some neat new software features, such as Samsung's new voice recognition software; S Voice, and its ability to use the front camera to tell when you're looking at the screen, so it doesn't turn off the display when you're reading something.
Hardware-wise, the Galaxy S III doesn't stray too far from Samsung's earlier models, as it features a glossy plastic frame and rounded corners. It really looks like it was cut from the same mold as the Google Galaxy Nexus, though the Galaxy S III is a bit slimmer. Samsung managed to keep the overall dimensions of the new phone about the same size as the older Galaxy S II despite the III having a larger display by trimming down the bezel and areas surrounding the display.
Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S III in Europe on May 29, with a UK availability set for May 30. A version with support for 4G network in the U.S. is due to arrive later this summer.
