At long last, Spotify has released a proper app for the Apple iPad tablet. The streaming music service's new iPad app has been optimized for the larger display of the tablet and features Retina Display graphics and high-resolution album art.
In addition to the high-res graphics and album art, Spotify says its iPad app makes it easier than ever to browse the 18 million songs available in its catalog for streaming. It offers search for playlists, other users, and music, as well as tools to check out what's hot on Spotify and what's trending among your friends. The app also has gapless music playback and crossfading and supports Apple's AirPlay service.
Spotify for iPad is free and available in the iTunes App Store now. It does require a premium Spotify subscription, though new users can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Spotify's premium services if they want to check out the new iPad app.
