After piloting in-app purchases in its Appstore for Android and the Kindle Fire, Amazon has formally announced the new feature.
The in-app purchase service is very similar to what is already offered by Apple in the iTunes App Store for iOS and by Google in the Google Play Store for Android. Users will be able to purchase add-ons and subscriptions within apps that are downloaded from the Amazon Appstore, without having to go back to the Appstore itself.
Amazon will reportedly take a 30 percent cut from each in-app purchase sold, which is similar to the cut taken by Apple and Google in their respective stores. Amazon says that users will be able to purchase the add-ons and subscriptions with its "seamless and secure 1-Click purchasing experience."
