Huawei announced its new D series line of smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2012, and the Ascend D quad is the star of the show. We spent some time at Huawei's booth taking a look at it and came away impressed.
The Ascend D quad is a remarkably thin device for its specs as it measures only 8.9mm. It feels really nice in your hand thanks to the subtly patterned soft-touch battery cover. The 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel IPS+ display is a treat to look at, with great viewing angles and vibrant colors. Games really pop off of the screen and pull you right into the action.

Performance-wise, the D quad is no slouch, as its quad-core processor had no issues pushing around Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The chip is a new processor made by Huawei, and it can be hand in either 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz versions. The D quad had no problem playing graphics intensive games, and it didn't hiccup once.
Huawei plans to launch the Ascend D quad globally in Q2 2012. It also has an LTE equipped version as well as the Ascend D quad XL, which is slightly thicker and offers a 2,500mAh battery as opposed to an 1,800mAh unit.
