In the run-up to next week's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, LG today announced its new style plan for its Optimus line of Android-powered smartphones. Called L-Style, LG's new theme involves mettalic bodies with square designs in slim devices.
LG says that L-Style has 5 major tenets:
- Modern Square Style
- Floating Mass Technology for slimmer look
- Seamless Layout
- Harmonized Design Contrast (metal)
- Senuous Slim Shape
But while LG says that the new L-Style devices are "timeless" and designed with "finer details," we simply don't see it. From the initial press photo, at least, the three new L-Style devices that are set to launch at Mobile World Congress appear dull and dated from a design perspective.
Those three new devices are the 3.2-inch touchscreen-equipped Optimus L3, the new Optimus L5 with a 4-inch touchscreen, and the high-end Optimus L7 that features a 4.3-inch display. The L3 will ship in March with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, while the L5 and L7 are set for release in the first half of the year and will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich from the start.
Here's hoping that the new L-Style devices look better in our hands next week in Barcelona than they do in the photos in this story. We'll be sure to get all of them captured in our own photos and videos from the show, so stay tuned.
