Samsung has announced the Galaxy mini 2 smartphone, an update to the original Galaxy mini that was released a year ago. The Galaxy mini 2 features a faster processor, a larger battery, and more refined styling over its processor.

Though Samsung improved the specs on the Galaxy mini 2, it is still firmly in the entry-level bracket, as it is powered by an 800MHz processor and has a 3.27-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) display. There is a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera on back that can record VGA video clips, and the mini 2 comes with 4GB of on-board storage. The phone has a 1,300mAh battery, measures 109.4mm x 58.6mm x 11.9mm (4.3in x 2.3in x 0.47in), and weighs 106.8g (3.77oz). Samsung will also offer a version of the mini 2 that includes support for NFC(INFO).

The Galaxy mini 2 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will be available in the UK starting in April. Pricing information was not announced, but we would expect the mini 2 to be pretty inexpensive.
