LG Optimus LTE Tag |
LG has announced the Optimus LTE Tag, a new member of the Optimus LTE family that features an updated design and Near Field Communications capabilities.
LG calls the Optimus LTE Tag "cosmetically enhanced" compared to the original Optimus LTE, as it features a new white finish. More importantly, the Tag drops the gorgeous 4.5-inch HD IPS display seen on other Optimus LTE models and opts for a more pedestrian 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800) IPS screen. In the HD screen's stead is LG's Tag+ NFC feature that can allow the Tag to communicate with NFC-equipped stickers and devices with a mere tap of the device. The company says these tags can be used to automatically reconfigure the phone as needed.
For example, a tag at the office could be swiped to put the phone into vibrate mode and enable Wi-Fi. A similar tag in the user's car could enable Bluetooth and GPS. The company does not say how many, if any, tags will be included with the Optimus LTE Tag in its retail package.
Other specs of the Optimus LTE Tag are a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of internal storage, a 1,700mAh battery, and a 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash as well as a 1.3 megapixel front camera. The Optimus LTE Tag runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but LG promises that an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming later.
The Optimus LTE Tag will be released for the Korean market first, but LG has not announced plans for an international release.
