Google has released an update to its Google Docs app for Android smartphones and tablets that includes offline document access and usability tweaks.

The new version of the app allows users to save their documents to their devices so they can work on them when they don't have an internet connection. Once they are back on a Wi-Fi or cellular network, the app will sync their changes with their Google Docs account and update the files saved to their devices.

The app also offers an improved experience for Android tablet users, as documents are now presented in high-resolution and the app now makes use of gestures for navigation. You can download the updated Google Docs app for Android for free from the Android Market now. [Google]
