Yesterday Nokia released a statement announcing the Australian launch of the Lumia line of smartphones, starting with the Lumia 800. While we were happy to see that Australians would soon be able to get their hands on the latest from Espoo, what piqued our interest more was the mention that the Lumia 800 would be available in white in addition to the black, cyan, and magenta models available in other markets. Well, today is another day, and from the looks of things, it seems that the mention of a white Lumia 800 was a mistake and the Australian launch will only include the previously released colors.

Initially pointed out to us by Winsource, the press release announcing the Lumia 800 for Australia has been amended to remove any mention of the white version. We reached out to Nokia for clarification on the matter and were informed that the mention of a white model was in error and the only models available for the Lumia 800 are the black, cyan, and magenta that we have seen before.

Color us disappointed on this one, because we know for sure there are more than a few Lumia 800 fans that would love to see a white version released. Nokia did release a very attractive glossy white version of the N9 (the Lumia 800's design inspiration), so we still have hope that the Lumia 800 (or maybe even the very similar 900) will eventually be available in white.
