Today Fox Business is reporting that BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has hired investment bank Goldman Sachs to explore its future options as a company. The implication here is that RIM is potentially looking for a buyer.
Amazon, Microsoft, and Nokia have all been tapped as having shown at least some interest in acquiring the beleaguered smartphone maker. All such talks are believed that have fallen through.
At this point there appear to be no obvious buyers for the company as far as existing players in the wireless and mobile space are concerned. Company management, for its part, insists it is working to turn around RIM's downward trend.
