Lenovo and Intel have announced that the Chinese company will be the first manufacturer to release a smartphone with an Intel processor inside of it. The new phone will use Intel's Atom Z2460 platform, formerly known by its codename of "Medfield."

The Lenovo K800 will use the Z2460 processor with Hyper Threading technology and will run on China Mobile's 21Mbps network. The phone runs Android with Lenovo's custom LeOS user interface specially designed for the Chinese market. It also has an Intel XMM 6260 Platform chip to give it support for HSPA+ networks.

Lenovo expects to released the K800 in the second quarter of this year. Intel also announced a partnership with Motorola that will result in Atom-based mobile devices released in the second half of this year.
