Huawei is on the move at CES this morning, and it has unveiled the Ascend P1 S, which it claims to be the world's thinnest Android smartphone, knocking the Fujitsu ARROWS ES IS12F off of its perch.

The Ascend P1 S measures a scant 6.68mm at its thinnest point, just barely edging out the Fujitsu and its 6.7mm measurement. Under the hood are a laundry list of impressive specs, including a 1.5GHz, dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and 1080p video capture, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera with 720p video capture, and a 4.3-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixel) Super AMOLED(INFO) display with Gorilla Glass. A 1,670mAh battery provides power for the P1 S, and Huawei has installed Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the phone.

The Ascend P1 S will come in metallic black, ceramic white, and cherry-blossom pink color options when it launches globally in Q2 2012. Huawei is also releasing the P1, a sister phone to the P1 S, that features the same specifications, but has a thicker, 7.69mm shell and larger 1,800mAh battery. [via the::unwired]
