Samsung has released the Galaxy Ace Plus smartphone, an updated version of its entry-level Galaxy Ace that debuted around this time last year. The Galaxy Ace Plus offers a number of improvements over the older model, including a larger display and a faster processor.

The Galaxy Ace Plus packs a 3.65-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) display in a 114.7mm x 62.5mm x 11.2mm (4.5in x 2.46in x 0.44in) frame. The Ace Plus features a refined design with rounded corners and a glossy back. Like many Samsung smartphones, the Ace Plus is rather light, tipping the scales at a feathery 115g (4oz). It has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, but it maxes out its video capabilities at 800 x 480 pixels - no HD shooting here.

Powering the Galaxy Ace Plus is an upgraded 1GHz, single-core processor and 512MB of RAM. The phone has 3GB of internal storage out of the box, and it supports microSD cards up to 32GB in capacity. A 1,300mAh battery provides the juice that powers the device. The phone supports HSPA 7.2Mbps connections, but only on the 900 and 2100MHz bands, so 3G service is available in Europe and Asia only. The Galaxy Ace Plus runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Samsung's TouchWiz interface.

Samsung did not say when the Galaxy Ace Plus would hit shelves or how much it would cost, but we expect to learn more at the Mobile World Congress conference in February.
