UNIEA, a manufacturer of cases for smartphones and tablets, has released a new line of cases for the Apple iPhone 4 and 4S that feature slim profiles and custom art designs. Called the "Design Series," the cases are made from polycarbonate and sport anti-scratch UV coatings. UNIEA sent me three designs to check out, so read on to find out more about the Design Series of cases.
The three cases that I received were from the REBELUTION, FRENCHIE, and HosannArt lines. All three cases feature the same lightweight, polycarbonate construction, and are a single piece that snugly snaps around the iPhone 4/4S. The cases are designed to be ultra-slim and barely add any bulk or thickness to the svelte iPhone. When installed, the case has no play or movement, but still provides access to all of the iPhone's ports and switches.
The back of each case is a smooth, glossy plastic, which showcases the design and artwork. The artwork is protected by a UV coating, so it is resistant to damage and scratches. The sides of the UNIEA cases feature a dimpled pattern similar to that seen on a golf ball. This is the only feature of the cases that actually aid in handling and grip of the notoriously slippery iPhone.
On the back of each case is a cutout for the camera and LED flash. While the case does not block the lens at all, it does cause some issues with the flash - a typical side-effect of many iPhone 4/4S cases. The case causes noticeable glare in pictures when the flash is used, so that is something to be conscious of when snapping pics.

The cases themselves are not the most protective cases on the market - likely a side-effect of their slim, lightweight design. They will offer some protection, but no one should confuse them for the level of protection you get from a case with a soft, rubber liner. But, the real reason that someone would choose the UNIEA Design Series cases would likely be to make a fashion statement, and that they do with aplomb. The graphics are very vibrant and bright, and since they are coated, they should not wear off very easily. The case is rather hard to remove once it is installed, so those who like to frequently swap out their cases to match an outfit will want to take note of that.

You can purchase the UNIEA Design Series cases direct from UNIEA now for $29.95 each.
