This week Sprint filed lawsuits against Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cable One, and Cox Communications claiming that the companies infringed upon its patents concerning the transmission of phone calls.

Sprint cited 12 patents that it claims the cable companies have violated and says that the companies have "realized the great value in this technology and have misappropriated it without Sprint's permission."

Sprint filed the same basic lawsuit against Vonage in 2005 and was awarded an $80 million licensing deal in 2007. [Bloomberg via Engadget]
