Swype has released a new beta version of its tracing keyboard for Android devices that includes a voice transcription feature that is powered by Dragon Dictation. This new feature is a direct result of Nuance's purchase of Swype earlier this year.
Swype says that voice transcriptions are 40 percent more accurate than with previous versions, and the system learns speaking patterns over time. The feature is available for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish, and Swype says that other languages will added in the future.
The new version will be automatically updated for those that are a part of the Swype beta program. It is not yet available for phones that have Swype pre-installed from the manufacturer.
