Images of a rumored upcoming flagship smartphone from Sony Ericsson have hit the internet, and from the looks of things, this might be a phone to watch in 2012. Supposedly named the Xperia arc HD, the phone is said to have a 720p display and dual-core processor.

The arc HD's screen is the main attraction here, and it measures 4.3 inches and features 1280 x 720 pixels of resolution. The phone is said to be powered by a 1.5GHz, dual-core Qualcomm processor and Adreno 220 GPU(INFO), and it seems like this could end up being the first Sony Ericsson smartphone to have a dual-core chip inside. Joining the processor is 1GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, though it appears that the arc HD lacks a microSD card slot. Around back is a hefty 12 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities. The phone also has a micro-HDMI port to output content to an HDTV. The arc HD is expected to launch with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, though an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is highly likely.

Unfortunately, there isn't any expected release date just yet, though we will likely see the arc HD at Mobile World Congress in February, if not earlier at CES in January. [via GSM Arena]
