Twitter has released revamped versions of its iOS and Android apps that focus on providing faster access to the information that you care about. The new Twitter apps are designed to provide a unified experience with the web version, as well.

The new apps feature four tabs for Home, Connect, Discover, and Me (found at the top on Android, bottom on iOS). The Home tab gives access to a user's regular timeline, while Connect tab displays mentions, retweets, or favorited tweets. The Discover tab provides access to popular stories and trends that are happening on Twitter at the current time. The Me tab lets users see their own profile and Direct Messages.

These new features are currently available for the iPhone and Android versions of the app, but Twitter says that it is also working on updating the iPad version to bring it in line. Hopefully, Twitter will update its official apps for BlackBerry and Windows Phone in the future, too.

The new Twitter app is available for free in the iTunes App Store and Android Market now. Check out the video below to see the changes that Twitter is making to its entire platform. [Twitter]
