U.S. Cellular has announced the launch of the Samsung Repp, a new entry-level Android smartphone that should appeal to first-time smartphone buyers. The Repp features Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 3.2-inch display.

The Repp's touchscreen offers HVGA (360 x 480 pixel) resolution, and the phone is powered by an 800MHz processor. The Repp comes with a 2GB microSD card pre-installed, but it can support cards up to 32GB in capacity. It has a 3 megapixel camera and camcorder, and features a 1,500mAh battery that should provide up to 8 hours of talk time or 12.5 days of standby time. U.S. Cellular advertises the Repp as a lightweight, easy to use smartphone, as it measures 110.5mm x 58.4mm x 13.2mm (4.35in x 2.26in x 0.48in) and weighs 105.5g (3.72oz).

The Repp will be available online and at U.S. Cellular locations in the near future. It is expected to be free, after rebate, with a new two-year agreement.
