3.8 stars

(How we score)

Good construction, good camera, solid battery life
Call audio hiss, non-replaceable battery, ill-fitting rear cover

The HTC Radar 4G is a great little Windows Phone smartphone. It features solid construction and good looks, both of which are mated to the very user-friendly Windows Phone 7.5 OS, with its gorgeous live tiles and Microsoft Metro user interface look.

There's really very little wrong with the phone at all, and for people that don't want one of the new breed of monstrously large smartphones, the Radar and its 3.8-inch display and commensurate size are going to please. The only real problem is that it feels just like any other Windows Phone device, and some of those (like Samsung's Focus family) offer spiffy Super AMOLED displays.

Still, the HTC Radar 4G is a good phone, and one that should please new smartphone users and veterans alike. You can see the phone in action in the two hands-on videos after the Table of Contents, below.
