Verizon Wireless has announced a new data plan option for customers of the BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone. The new BlackBerry Social Messaging Data Package offers access to popular social networks and instant messaging services, including BlackBerry Messenger, with limited web browsing for only $10 per month.

The BlackBerry Social Messaging Data Package is only available with the Curve 3G. It provides 75MB of web browsing; access to Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter; use of BlackBerry Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, and Windows Live Messenger; and use of My Verizon and Backup Assistant. Users can browse the web or download apps from the BlackBerry App World when connected to a Wi-Fi network. The plan only costs $10 per month instead of the usual $29.99 per month that standard data packages start at.

The new option is only offered online at www.verizonwireless.com/blackberrysocial, and customers must purchase a BlackBerry Curve 3G smartphone with a new two-year agreement to get it. The Curve 3G sells for $49.99 on-contract.
