Cricket and Samsung have announced the Transfix, a new Android-based messaging smartphone. The Transfix should appeal to texting fanatics, with its four-row, slide-out keyboard and 3.2-inch touchscreen.

Powered by an 800MHz processor, the Transfix runs a vanilla version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It also has a 3.2 megapixel camera and support for up to 32GB capacity microSD cards.

Cricket is offering the Transfix now for $179.99 without a contract. Interested customers can find it online and at Cricket retail stores.
