According to "people familiar with the matter" reporting to Bloomberg, Sprint will still offer an unlimited data plan when it gets the Apple iPhone later this year. It has been rumored that Sprint will carry the next iPhone to be released in October when AT&T and Verizon Wireless are expected to get it.
The sources say that Sprint will keep the unlimited data plan as a way to differentiate itself from AT&T and Verizon Wireless, both of which no longer offer unlimited data options. The carrier hopes to draw customers away from is rivals with its all-you-can-eat data package.
Another interesting point from Bloomberg's sources is that Sprint has allegedly postponed the introduction of another smartphone with 4G WiMAX technology, which was expected to debut in September, to prepare for the launch of the iPhone. One of the most anticipated Android handsets of the year, the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, is set to debut on Sprint's network on September 16, so we are not sure if the notion that Sprint is delaying a high-profile smartphone in anticipation of the iPhone holds much water.
