The University of Southern Mississippi is providing students with an interesting incentive to become an honors student: it is hooking up students that participate in honors programs with Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets pre-loaded with Blackboard Mobile Learn software.
The program will distribute 1,000 of the Android tablets to Honors College, McNair Scholars, Southern Style, and Gulf Coast students. Students will be able to access their courses, syllabi, content, e-textbooks, grades, schedules, emergency notifications, and more from their new tablets.
Allowing students to access course materials on an electronic device instead of lugging around textbooks is something that has been dreamed about for ages. No word on how the ability to play Angry Birds instead of reading a textbook will be addressed.
