Sprint is pushing out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for its dual-screened Kyocera Echo smartphone today. The update brings the usual goodies that come along with Gingerbread, including a download manager app and improved performance, as well as the latest version of the Swype 3.0 keyboard with Tap Correction and Horizontal Word Choice list. Additionally, the Echo is getting a new app called Eco Mode that aids users in managing the battery use on their devices. Users should get a notification when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed on their phones, or they can go to the System Updates section of the Settings app to force a check for the new software.
