Today is a good day for owners of the non-carrier branded of Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 smartphone, as the company has finally released the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the device. The update brings version 2.3.3 of Android, along with the latest version of Sony Ericsson's Facebook Inside Xperia interface, refreshed music and photo widgets, and the ability to sort apps in the app tray. Users can also use their X10s as mobile hotspots after applying the update. The update has to be downloaded and installed through Sony Ericsson's PC Companion software, so it is not an over-the-air delivery. No word on when, or if, the update will be made available to carrier branded versions of the X10.
