LG's 3D smartphone, the Optimus 3D, unfortunately ran Android 2.2 Froyo instead of the current Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS when it was released in the UK this month. It looks like owners will be waiting until October to get their hands on the Gingerbread fun, as LG has said that is when the update is expected to hit the Optimus 3D in the UK. By that time, we will be right on top of the release of the next version of Android, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich, at which point the Optimus 3D will be a step behind once again. The October time-frame only applies to the UK, so it could be some time after that before other versions of the Optimus 3D receive the upgrade.source: LG, via: Unwired View
